Leading power and automation technology entity, ABB, has bagged an order worth Rs 165.4 crore from Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand (PTCUL).
The order is for three substations to strengthen the northern Indian region’s transmission grid and help deliver clean hydropower to communities in the area.
The company will design, supply, install and commission the substations, rated at 132 kV (kilovolts), 220 kV and 400 kV respectively, as well as transformers and other major power equipment.
The order is scheduled to be completed in 2011.
These substations will help meet growing demand for electricity with renewable power sources, supporting sustainable economic development in the region. The Srinagar substation in the western Himalayas will be one of the largest of its kind in the area.
ABB has a global installed base of over 10,000 substations, across a range of voltage levels up to 800 kV.
