Areva T&D commissions Paddapai unit

Areva T&D India has commissioned its manufacturing unit at Paddapai, near Chennai set up for an investment of Rs 250 crore. The company will shortly inaugurate one more unit at Hosur in Tamil Nadu.

While the Paddapai plant will host three new factories including Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) production facility, a circuit breaker factory and disconnector factory, the Hosur site will manufacture condenser bushings and instrument transformers.

The company had set aside Rs 950 crore for its greenfield manufacturing facilities in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu to increase its sales to Rs 8,000 crore by 2012. Of this 40% will be invested in the two plants at Paddapai and Hosur in Tamil Nadu.
