Aurobindo Pharma gets final nod for Risperidone Oral Solution from USFDA

Hyderabad-headquartered Aurobindo Pharma has received final approval of the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) for Risperidone Oral Solution 1 mg/ml.

Risperidone Oral Solution 1 mg/ml, which is the generic equivalent of Risperdal Oral Solution 1 mg/ml from Ortho-McNeil Janseen, is indicated in the treatment of schizophrenia and falls under the neurological (CNS) segment.

The market size of the drug stood at around $68 million for the 12 months ended on March 31, 2009.

The pharma major plans to launch the product in the US market shortly.
