BHEL plans Rs 12,000 cr expansion in four years

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) is planning to invest Rs 12,000 crore over the next four years to acquire stake in power projects and to increase its capacity to 20,000 mega watt.
The funding will be done through internal accruals, company officials announced.
BHEL’s current manufacturing capacity supports power generation of 10,000 mega watt.
It has acquired 26% stake in the 2×800 Udangudi project of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and is hoping to become a joint venture partner in more units.
The company, whose current order book stands at Rs 1,17,000 crore, is anticipating orders for the supply and erection of equipment for NTPC’s joint venture with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.
