GE Shipping reports weak numbers for Q1 of FY10

Great Eastern Shipping Company (GE Shipping), engaged in shipping business, has announced its unaudited results for the quarter ended June 30, 2009.
The company has posted a net profit of Rs 126.28 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 against net profit of Rs 387.59 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, a drop by 67.42%.Total revenue for the quarter has gone down by 36.56% to Rs 629.02 crore from Rs 991.48 crore in the year ago period.
On consolidated basis, the group has posted a net profit after tax of Rs 154.17 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 427.93 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, fell by 63.97%. Total Income has decreased from Rs 1196.34 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008 to Rs 885.61 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2009, dip by 25.97%.
