Global M&A deals take a beating in crunch time

According to a report from the global deal tracking firm, Dealogic, the global merger and acquisition sphere witnessed 42% drop in its value touching $482 billion so far this year owing to the global financial downturn.

Such deals have also come down sharply to only 6,693 deals, as against 10,182 deals in 2008 YTD. In 2009, there have been ten deals valued of over $10 billion with the total volume, accounting for 27 per cent of volume in 2009 YTD, against 25% in 2008 YTD, the report says.
