HCC eyes share in the nuclear power plant construction segment

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), India’s leading engineering construction company, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with international engineering and project management company AMEC plc (AMEC) to jointly explore opportunities for consulting and EPC services for the establishment of nuclear power plants in India.

HCC, known for its civil engineering capabilities in nuclear power plants construction, has built over 50% of India’s installed nuclear capacity.

This tie-up will further strengthen HCC’s capabilities to execute services in the field of mechanical and electrical components of nuclear power plants by sourcing the latest prevailing global technologies through AMEC, the company stated in its filing with the BSE.

AMEC has 50-year history of delivering highly complex new build programmes in the nuclear sector. From construction of the some of its first civil nuclear power plants in the world to development of the latest Generation IV designs, AMEC has broad experience of various reactor technologies and is wholly independent of vendors.
