Industrial Energy (IEL), a joint venture between Tata Power and Tata Steel, has commissioned its 1×120 mega watt power house 6 at Jamshedpur.
The power house, worth Rs 490 crore, will supply its entire generated capacity to Tata Steel, a move that would help the company to meet the increasing demand for power for its Jamshedpur works.
The two boilers of the plant, each of 230 tph, were supplied by Alstom and the turbine and the generator was supplied by BHEL.
IEL was set up to develop new Captive Power Projects (CPPs) to meet the power requirements of Tata Steel.
