L&T bags orders worth Rs 853 cr for coal handling plants

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) secured a Rs 364-crore order from UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadam Nigam (UPRVUNL) during first quarter of FY’10 for setting up coal handling plant at Anpara, UP. The company also bagged a contract for Rs 489 crore from Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) for setting up coal handling plant at Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.

UPRVUNL is setting up stage D, 2×500 MW Anpara Thermal Power Project under expansion scheme, set to completed in 31 months.

NLC is setting 2×500 MW project at Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu. This greenfield project is being developed by a joint venture of NLC and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) and is scheduled for completion in 29 months for unit 1 and 33 months for unit 2.

The scope of work of these two contracts includes basic and details engineering, supply, erection of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works, complete civil and structural works, testing and commissioning.

The projects will be implemented by the Metallurgical Materials Handling and Water Operating Company (MMHW) of Larsen & Toubro’s ECC Division.

The bulk material handling business unit of L&T is a leader in its field, executing projects of very high capacity material handling systems combining quality and operational reliability. The business unit is also well known for timely completion of their complex projects, some of them executed even in the most inhospitable terrains.
