NTPC receives govt nod to source supercritical power equipment

State-owned power generation utility NTPC has received a nod from the government to source supercritical power equipment for various power projects across the country. The company is expected to float tenders for boiler and turbine generator packages in the next 45 days.

The equipment will be used for NTPC’s Mouda and Solapur projects, its joint venture projects in Nabinagar in Bihar and Meja in Uttar Pradesh and the Damodar Valley Corporation’s Kodarma project in Jharkhand.

The cumulative expenditure for these projects is estimated to be around Rs 40,000 crore, as per a government statement released on Thursday.

Industry leaders like BHEL-Alstom, L&T-Mitsubishi and GB Engineering-Ansaldo are likely to bid for the boilers tender while BHEL-Siemens, L&T-Mitsubishi, Bharat Forge-Alstom and Toshiba-JSW would be potential bidders for the turbine generators tender.
