Power Grid board approves investment proposals

Power Grid Corporation of India’s board has approved investment for transmission system linked with Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) at an estimated cost of Rs 7031.88 crore. The project is scheduled for commissioning within 48 months from the date of approval.
Investment in system strengthening in the northern region grid for Karcham Wangtoo HEP has been approved at an estimated cost of Rs 328.97 crore. The project is scheduled for commissioning within 33 months from the date of approval.
Apart from this, the board has also granted investment approval for transmission system linked with Farakka-III at an estimated cost of Rs 204.07 crore.The project is scheduled for commissioning within 30 months from the date of approval.
This was decided at the company’s board meeting held on November 18, 2008.
