Siemens bags Rs 212 cr order from SAIL

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has placed an order worth Rs 212 crore with engineering firm Siemens for providing a power distribution package for the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in Orissa.

As per the deal, Siemens’ work includes designing, engineering, supply, civil work, erection, testing and commissioning of transmission lines and substations.

Siemens would provide an extra high-voltage power distribution package to the RSP for augmenting its existing as well as installation of substations.

With this the production capacity of Rourkela Steel Plant is expected to increase to 4.5 million tonnes from the current 1.9 million tonnes.
